Intraoral Scanner, Digital Dentures

3D Dental Scanner

Worlds most advanced diode laser.

An intraoral scanner is a dental device used to capture highly accurate 3D digital impressions of a patient's teeth, gums, and oral tissues. It is a hand-held wand-like instrument that scans the inside of the mouth, creating a detailed digital model of the oral structures.

Here’s how digital dentures are made using an intraoral scanner:

  1. Digital Design: The digital impressions captured by the intraoral scanner are then transferred to specialized dental software. Dental professionals, such as prosthodontists or dental technicians, use this software to design the digital dentures. They can customize the dentures according to the patient’s unique dental anatomy, aesthetics, and functional requirements.
  2. Virtual Try-In: Once the digital denture design is complete, a virtual try-in is conducted using the software. The patient’s digital model is superimposed with the digital denture, allowing them to preview the appearance and fit of the dentures before they are physically fabricated.
  3. 3D Printing or Milling: After finalizing the digital design and virtual try-in, the digital denture files are sent to a 3D printer or a computer numerical control (CNC) milling machine. These technologies use specialized materials, such as biocompatible resin or acrylic, to fabricate the dentures layer by layer or carve them from a solid block.
  4. Finishing and Polishing: Once the denture is 3D printed or milled, it undergoes a post-processing stage. This includes removing any support structures, refining the fit and surface texture, and polishing the denture to achieve a natural appearance and smooth finish.
  5. Fitting and Adjustments: The digital denture is then fitted in the patient’s mouth. Any necessary adjustments, such as refining the bite or ensuring optimal comfort, are made at this stage. The ability to make digital adjustments facilitates a more efficient and precise fitting process.

Digital dentures offer several advantages over traditional dentures, including enhanced accuracy, faster turnaround time, and the ability to make digital adjustments without the need for physical alterations. The use of intraoral scanners and digital workflows allows for a more streamlined and patient-centric approach to denture fabrication.

It’s important to note that the availability and adoption of digital denture technology may vary among dental practices. If you’re interested in digital dentures, consult with a dental professional who specializes in digital dentistry to determine if it’s a suitable option for your specific needs.

His appointment time was spot on, no waiting due to over lap on appointments and always provided with the unique friendly care that patients come first. FAQ

Have a questions?

Dentures typically have a lifespan of 5 to 10 years. However, it is essential to visit your denturist regularly for check-ups. They will evaluate the condition of your dentures and recommend replacement when necessary.
There are several types of dentures available, including complete dentures for full tooth replacement, partial dentures for replacing multiple missing teeth, implant-supported dentures for added stability, and immediate dentures for immediate tooth replacement after extractions.
The time required to make new dentures can vary depending on individual needs. It typically takes several appointments over a few weeks. The process involves impressions, measurements, and custom fabrication to ensure a proper fit and appearance.
It is generally recommended to remove your dentures while sleeping to give your oral tissues a chance to rest. This promotes better oral hygiene and prevents potential complications.
Dentures should be cleaned daily using a soft-bristled denture brush or a regular soft toothbrush with mild soap or denture cleaner. Avoid using toothpaste or abrasive cleaners. Soaking the dentures overnight in a denture-cleaning solution helps keep them moist and clean.
If your dentures feel loose or uncomfortable, it may be an indication that they require adjustment or realignment. Schedule an appointment with your denturist, who can make the necessary adjustments to improve the fit and comfort of your dentures.
Yes, dentures can significantly improve your ability to chew and speak, especially if you have been missing teeth. While an adjustment period is normal, dentures provide functional and aesthetic benefits, allowing you to eat and speak more comfortably.
Full dentures are used when all teeth in an arch are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain. Full dentures replace the entire arch of missing teeth, whereas partial dentures have clasps or attachments that anchor to the remaining natural teeth.
Dental insurance coverage varies, but many plans include coverage for dentures. It is recommended to check with your insurance provider to understand the specific coverage details and any potential out-of-pocket expenses.
If your dentures break or become damaged, avoid attempting to repair them yourself. Schedule an appointment with your denturist as soon as possible. They will assess the damage and provide professional repair services to restore the functionality and appearance of your dentures.
